In Alberta, Canada, dental hygienists are governed by the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta (CRDHA). The CRDHA is the regulatory body responsible for ensuring the competency, professionalism, and ethical standards of dental hygienists practicing in the province. It sets and enforces standards of practice, handles registration and licensure, and promotes ongoing professional development for dental hygienists in Alberta.

Dental hygienists primarily focus on preventive oral care, such as teeth cleaning, education, and maintaining oral health. Dentists, on the other hand, are trained to diagnose, treat, and manage various dental conditions, including performing complex procedures.
